International Network of Open Science and Scholarship Communities (INOSC)
INOSC is an International Network of Open Science and scholarship Communities (OSCs). Open Science Communities and Open Scholarship Communities (OSCs) are local, bottom-up initiatives where researchers learn from each other how to put Open Science into practice. These OSCs are crucial to achieve mainstream adaptation of the Open Science principles. OSCs have a direct influence on researchers by informing researchers about Open Science practices, and providing peer-support in working according to the Open Science principles. More indirectly, by being visible and showing that working according to the Open Science principles is the norm, they are changing the research community standards towards Open Science.
INOSC brings together coordinators of local OSCs to 1) learn from and inspire each other related to running an OSC, 2) collaborate on international and interdisciplinary projects related to Open Science, and 3) shape the international Open Science landscape by providing input to international research policy, infrastructure and services.
As of January 2025, INOSC consists of 50 OSCs located in 27 countries. To facilitate the growth of the network, we created a that provides a lot of practical information to those interested in starting their own OSC. In addition, we offer a free, 14-week, online in which we help future OSC coordinators to launch and manage their OSC.
