DataPop Alliance wwwdatapopallianceorg is a notforprofit nongovernmental organization created in 2013 by a group of pioneers of the Data Revolution movement at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative MIT Media Lab and ODI with $400000 seed funding from the Rockefeller Foundation It is directed by Emmanuel Letouz its cofounder alongside Prof Patrick Vinck Harvard and Prof Alex Pentland MIT As of March 2024 our core team is composed of 36 fulltime staff based in nearly 15 countries who collectively speak 13 languages to which we add international and national consultants from our network as needed In institutional terms DPA is registered under the official name of DPA Foundation Inc as a nonprofit charity organization under the US Internal Revenue Service IRS 501c3 designation We also operate through branches in Mexico since 2019 Senegal since 2021 and France since 2022
