Disinformation: Access to Information, Freedom of Expression, Fake News, Journalism and 2030 Agenda

As part of the Universal Access to Knowledge Week, UNESCO Montevideo is organising a space to raise awareness of the dangers of misinformation in the sense of the pandemic and to provide key resources to counter this phenomenon.

UNESCO Montevideo together with the and the has organised a webinar titled: 鈥Today's World Facing Disinformation: Access to Information, Freedom of Expression, Fake News, Journalism and Agenda 2030鈥, which seeks to analyze the impact of disinformation in the context of the current global health emergency. The activity is scheduled to take place on Thursday 1st October 2020 and is part of the .

The event will be attended by regional leaders and will increase the debate on the actions taken by Governments, the judiciary and other sectors involved in human rights, the media, freedom of expression , access to public information and journalism. All this, within the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The webinar will be moderated by Prof. Ricardo Rivas, Journalist, Vice President of the South American Union of Correspondents (UNAC), and is sponsored by the Supreme Court of Justice of Paraguay, the Department of International Relations and Global History of the Complutense University of Madrid, the National University of Mar del Plata, Argentina, Institute of Law and Environmental Economics of Paraguay - the University of Palermo, the Forum of Paraguayan Journalists (FOPEP) and the Institute of Preventive Journalism and International Analysis of Madrid.
