The document synthesizes the most relevant results of the first IFAP Conference organized in Latin America, bringing together leading experts to foster discussions on the development of e-education, digital governance, knowledge economy, digital transformation, and promote inclusion, and multilingualism in Latin America.

The widespread impact of the COVID 19 pandemic highlighted the importance of strong national engagement to buttress IFAP鈥檚 knowledge society goals. Every single one of IFAP鈥檚 six priority areas: information literacy, information access, information preservation, information ethics, information for development and multilingualism online resonates through these discussion.

The document outlines the situation of the regional information ecosystem and the progress achieved in the construction of inclusive and accessible Knowledge Societies for all Latin Americans in the context of hasty digitalisation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the historical impact of existing policies and multi-stakeholder engagement laid a solid ground for intra-regional and inter-regional cooperation, showcasing the use of digital technologies to combat the pandemic, in areas such as science and technology, social organization, and state innovation.

A valuable set of recommendations were elaborated to various stakeholders to strengthen public policies and reinforce strategies for the development of post-pandemic Latin American Knowledge Societies. These recommendations included support and encouragement for the strategic use of Information for Development, the integration of digital technologies in education as an instrument of development, promotion of digital government and adoption of digital technologies to accelerate development.
