Launch of Thuto Ya Batho – Women and Climate Change at COP18
The first UNFCCC Gender Day was celebrated on 27 November during COP18 in Doha. On this occasion the COP17/CMP7 Presidency Legacy publication Thuto Ya Batho – Women and Climate Change was launched. The book is an initiative of the COP17 President, Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa, and focuses on women’s critical role in building resilience to climate change. It aims to inspire action to unlock the potential of women in adapting to climate change. The Gender Day also included the events ‘Breakthrough changes for gender equality’ and ‘Moving beyond the Rhetoric’.
