New Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean
On April 1, 2024, Esther Kuisch Laroche, a Dutch national, is the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Santiago and Office for UN Coordination in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prior to this, Ms Kuisch Laroche served as the Director of the UNESCO Office in San José, Costa Rica, and the Director of the UNESCO Office in Tehran, Iran.
With over 25 years of experience, she has worked around the world with various United Nations agencies, funds, and programmes, as well as international NGOs, in the fields of sustainable development, human rights, and humanitarian aid.
Ms Kuisch Laroche holds a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Leiden University (Netherlands) and a Master’s in Education (Lifelong Learning and Adult Education) from Pennsylvania State University (United States).
