What does peace mean to you? What images, impressions and illustrations come to mind when you picture peace?

This Together for Peace Silent Manga Catalogue is a compilation of silent manga – manga stories told entirely through illustration without the use of dialogue. These works of art were selected from 274 entries submitted by artists in 117 countries worldwide to join SILENT MANGA AUDITION® Round 13 held under the theme Together for Peace, in collaboration with the UNESCO Bangkok Office.

Silent manga is a powerful medium of communication in the Asia-Pacific. Although the region is the most diverse in the world, it can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their background. Silent manga has no language barrier.  While conforming to the Japanese manga style, these works showcase different reflections of peace as expressed by artists around the world and based on various related topics such as out-of-school children, lifelong learning, anti-bullying, conflict, youth, learning to live together, refugees and shared histories. We are delighted to share these inspiring silent manga works with you and would like to thank all manga artists for contributing to peace through their unique form of storytelling.

This Silent Manga Catalogue Teacher's Companion is intended for use by teachers (or parents) together with Silent Manga Catalogue. Through the power of Silent Manga, teachers can use such manga stories to spark a thought-provoking discussion among younger generations that represent the chief architects of world peace not only in our own times, but in the years to come.

Peace is vital to all of us. The catalogue and the teacher's companion, also available in multiple languages, explore new ways to communicate this timely message to a wider audience and the younger generations that will shape our future.
