From Director's Desk

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the UNESCO Country Strategy (UCS) 2023-2027 for Mongolia. This document provides an overview of the latest Mongolia policy concerning UNESCO, and our strategic engagement planned within the cycle of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2027 for Mongolia. Meanwhile, it will support the national priorities within UNESCO’s Medium-term Strategy for 2022-2029 (41 C/4) for Strategic Objectives. The UCS is a participatory planning and programming tool for UNESCO, helping to define the fields of operation in a more precise approach to UNESCO’s activities. It also helps to reflect more profoundly on UNESCO’s relevance and role in Mongolia, where UNESCO is a non-resident agency, to position the Organization to support the implementation of Mongolia’s Vision-2050. In addition, it wishes to identify the prioritization of niche areas where UNESCO’s intervention and support at the country level can be brought to the most. The purpose of this UCS is trifold: 1) to support Member State’s implementation of national priorities in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, 2) to effectively strengthen UNESCO’s presence within UN mechanisms – Mongolia’s UNSDCF, and 3) to deepen the engagement with stakeholders in Mongolia. The USC is a living document and will be updated regularly to respond to challenges and opportunities.
