This documentary collection refers to the rulings in labor proceedings (acórdãos) carried out by the Regional Labor Court of the 2nd Region (TRT-2) from 1964 to 1988, that is, from the establishment of the military dictatorship in Brazil (1964) until the restoration of the democratic regime with the promulgation of the 1988 Constitution.

This collection is made up of 2,000 bound books, which contain all the collegiate rulings of the TRT-2 judges in the labor trials handled by this court during said period. The sentences (collegiate trials) are representative of the fight for the labor rights of the working classes during a period of exception and political repression, constituting records of the political, economic and cultural transformations that occurred in Latin America during these decades, impacting the majority of the Brazilian population.

Greatest challenge

The biggest challenge faced is related to the dissemination, visibility, and recognition of the historical value of the documentary heritage. The work of safekeeping and preservation has been carried out with quality over the last few decades. However, research on this material encounters obstacles, as there are limited options for disseminating the collection. Despite the documents being well-kept, the lack of financial resources hinders the dissemination of this material and thus hampers attracting the attention of academic researchers
