Memory of the World - Latin America and the Caribbean
The MoW Programme
The Memory of the World (MoW) programme is an international initiative promoted and coordinated by UNESCO since 1992, in order to ensure the preservation and access to the documentary heritage, including in digital format.
The Memory of the World (MoW) Programme is implemented by UNESCO through a system of committees and support mechanisms operating at international, regional and national levels that conforms to the General Guidelines to Safeguard Documentary Heritage.
The Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Memory of the World Programme (MoWLAC) was established in 2000, with the objective of promoting the Programme in the Region.

The MoW Regional Register
The Memory of the World register for Latin America and the Caribbean reflects the history and the evolution of a region with a great documentary richness of universal value.
In 2002 MoWLAC approved the first nominations in the Regional Register, which includes, to date, 233 documentary heritage inscriptions that remain guarded in archives, libraries or museums, and that have been recognized and selected by the MoWLAC Regional Committee to be part of the MoW regional register.
