The Fonds of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in Countries of the Southern Cone (CLAMOR).

Related Documents
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights in the Countries of the Southern Cone (CLAMOR) operated between 1978 and 1991, based in S茫o Paulo, Brazil. It is recognised as one of the most important organisations which offered solidarity to political refugees, prisoners and persons persecuted by the dictatorships of the Southern Cone. It became a conduit for the organisation and dissemination of information on crimes against human rights committed by dictatorships, and is important for preserving the memory of solidarity and resistance actions, as well as providing evidence for reparation claims and other measures of transitional justice.
Inscribed on the Memory of the World International Register in 2015 and on the Regional Register for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2012, CLAMOR is a closed fond, consisting of documents produced and accumulated during the Committee's existence, totalling 106 boxes and 29 folders. The collection is consulted by a very diverse public, including lawyers, legal representatives or relatives of political prisoners (or disappeared persons) in neighbouring countries, as well as national and foreign researchers. The fonds is undergoing technical processing for its physical organisation (cleaning and reconditioning of documents), inventory updating and document digitization.
