Information Section – North Argentine Sea Area of the Intelligence Service of the Prefecture
Related Documents
The documentation that is being applied was seized in 2005 by the late Dr Hugo Cañon, who at that moment was the Attorney General of BahÃa Blanca. He realized that it would become evidence in the trials of those who were responsible for crimes against humanity and that it was at risk of being destroyed.
The North Argentine Sea Zone is part of the territorial structure of the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA on Spanish initials), based on the directive 1/75 of the Defense Council that established the Internal Capabilities Plan of the Argentine Navy (PLANCINTARA), it had an active role in the repressive structure of state terrorism. The Naval Intelligence Service was part of the repressive machinery.
To this day the documentation is proof: on the trials where the responsibility of the Navy and the PNA is judged during the pre-dictatorship – 1974 and 1975 – until 1983; in cases related to civilians who were part of the repressive machinery in Mar del Plata, La Plata and BahÃa Blanca; and on emblematic cases where the responsibilities of other armed forces have been judged and finally in trials that investigate the repressive and coordinated actions of the dictatorships of the southern cone during the so-called Plan Condor.
