The Minutes of the Military Junta Meetings constitute the official record of the periodical and secret meetings held by its members. This body held the highest authority of the Argentine State after the civic-military coup that installed a dictatorial government, from March 24, 1976 to December 10, 1983. Once the Military Junta was deposed, the minutes of its meetings were hidden. It was even claimed that they had been destroyed. For this reason, their discovery at the end of 2013 became a milestone for the knowledge of recent history and the recovery of the historical memory of society.
There are now 281 Minutes that document the main issues, debates and changes of the civic-military dictatorship of Argentina. The rarity and integrity of this heritage lies in the fact that it is a complete, unique, authentic and original documentary corpus, which records from start to end the decisions of one of the bloodiest dictatorships in Latin America, and which was one of the heads of the regional repressive coordination called “Condor Plan”. The Minutes meet the double condition of being an irreplaceable historiographical source and a weighty contribution to the causes against crimes against humanity.
