The Official Gazette El Peruano collection of copies from the 19th century (From second semester of 1868 until 1900) in 54 volumes, which belongs to Editora Perú company, contributes due to its invaluable content to the understanding and preservation of the history and culture of a large part of the 19th century. This is so, because, it is an authentic and representative documentary source in a national, regional and world range. Far away in time, but very close in our historical memory, Simón Bolívar, with his extraordinary political vision, decided to create it on October 22nd, 1825, as a means of communication to spread the government decrees and treaties agreed by the new independent nation of Peru.

El Peruano, in the framework of its bicentennial foundation, constitutes a unique legacy in the process of democratic consolidation in Peru. Its importance lies in its value for historical research, as well as in the preservation of the collective memory of the nation, and it also played a key role in the promotion of national identity. Its pages reflected and spread the history of Peru, the exaltation of national heroes and promoted civic and patriotic values. The proposed collection stands out for being the most complete one safeguarded in Peruvian territory (National Library of Peru, 2023), and the state of conservation preserved over time is also notable, and further highlighted by the fact that it belongs to the institution that inherited the responsibility of those that were in charge of publishing this newspaper over time.

This is an addendum to the MoWLAC inscription 202/2022 (registered in 2022).
