In the highlands of the department of Ancash, in the north of Peru, is located the city of Corongo. For its population, dedicated mainly to agricultural and livestock work, water is one of the most important elements. In Corongo has persisted an organization that ensures the proper distribution of water, known as the Water Judges System of Corongo.
This Andean system of organization articulates the religious festive calendar and the management of natural resources, and continues to establish order under the principles of justice and reciprocity, thus becoming the axis of the cultural identity of this people.
