Safeguarding Documentary Heritage
Communication and Information Unit, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok

Last update:28 May 2025
In 1992, UNESCO launched the Memory of the World programme to raise awareness about growing threats to the preservation of documentary heritage. Documents stored in archives, libraries, museums and private collections constitute part of the collective memory of the world, reflecting the diversity of histories, cultures, languages and arts. UNESCO Bangkok cooperates with the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific to help preserve and provide access to documentary heritage in the region.
