UNESCO Kinshasa was the first United Nations agency established in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, following the country's independence in 1960.
UNESCO Kinshasa mobilizes partners to help the country achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and adheres to the strategic vision of Priority Africa which supports the African Union's vision for 2063, stated as follows: "To build an integrated, prosperous Africa, at peace with itself and with the rest of the world, governed and built by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force on the international stage.
